DSL as described by it's webpage is "a very versatile 50MB mini desktop oriented Linux distribution".

DSL is a remaster of the Knoppix Live CD distribution that has been pruned down to fit in a 50MB image. It's small size makes it ideal for burning it on a bootable business card cd, installing to a USB Thumbdrive and embedded applications. DSL can run on as little as a 486DX with 16MB of ram.

DSL comes with multpile web browsers including the popular Firefox 1.5, a word processor, email client, image viewer/manipulator, file manager, instant messenger, voice over ip, spreadsheet, pdf viewer, media player, vnc and remote desktop, ssh / web / ftp servers and much more. A lot of these apps will not be the main stream applications (with some exceptions) because of the more strict resource usage requirements, but all of the applications are very functional all the same. At the very least, playing around with the DSL live cd will be a lesson in minimilization in Linux.
