I have noticed while using VMWare Player (covered in our Virtualization and Emulation meeting) to run and build virtual machines for free, that when I install a multi-cd distro such as Fedora Core 5, I need to change the CD while installing. The free VMWare Player doesn't support this directly, so you have to trick it. The first step is to go to "Preferences" on the menu and then make sure the "Close Behaviour" is set to "Suspend the virtual machine". Now, when you need to switch CDs, you can just click the close button on the VMPlayer window, which suspends the install process, edit the vmx file of the virtual machine that you are installing to make the CDROM drive point to the next CDs ISO image file, save the vmx file and then start the virtual machine again. This will result in the virtual machine coming right back up to the point in the install where you left off with a new virtual CDROM in the virtual drive and the install is none the wiser. Now, just repeat these steps until you've finished the install.
